The Palisade Bulldogs girls volleyball team opened their eleventh game with the Lutheran Lions on September 16. The Bulldogs went into this game with an amazing record of 9-1. They had a nice five game winning streak. The Bulldogs opened the first set with really good concentration and demonstrated toughness on the court. The points were back and forth. This was a really good matchup between the teams. The first set was a hard fought battle between the teams which the Lions won, but Palisade was extremely close with the score being 25-21. The second set had similar results. Something that stood out was Palisade’s confidence on the court. When an error happened they always bounced back from it. The final score of the second set was 26-22 Lions. The third set showed their dominance and good communication throughout the set and the game ended 22-25 Lions. The game was very close; the end score averages were 2.9-2.3. The Bulldogs did a really good job hanging with one of the top teams in Colorado.
After the game we were able to get an interview with Junior Kyra Birch, a player from the Bulldogs. A Palisade custom is Bulldogs are all about toughness “We were really scrappy” said Kyra Birch when a team can be tough and mean at the same time they are definitely a threat to other volleyball teams. Volleyball is also a mental sport “The sets were close. We thought we could win one but we stayed together as a team” Said Kyra Birch. Having a good mentality in a game will surely keep you in the game. The girls volleyball team hit the road for their next game against the Glenwood Springs Devils on September 21. We hope the Bulldogs come home with a win. Good luck Bulldogs!
