The Palisade Paw Post is proud to announce this week’s Athlete of the Week, senior Kate Fricke; provided to you by the Palisade Dino Mart. Fricke was recognized for girls Varsity soccer, she has been on Varsity all four years and has been a team captain for three. As well as being an IB student here at Palisade. Huge congratulations to Fricke for earning this week’s Athlete of the Week!
Fricke says, “Some of my other interests outside of school would be going on outdoor adventures, photography, and also jewelry making.” Balancing school, hobbies, and sports can be tough, but Fricke makes the most out of it. All of her hard work and dedication does not go unnoticed. When asked how she feels soccer impacts her personally she responded with, “Soccer has always been a part of my life ever since I was little. It has allowed me to connect with my sibling, family, and people I would have never met outside of school. It has allowed me to become a leader and find a true passion of mine.” According to Fricke’s Soccer coach, Raul De Villegas-Decker, “Not only did she score our only goal but also worked tirelessly. She led her team verbally and by modeling the values of our soccer program – Effort, Focus, Commitment.” Fricke is our girls Varsity Soccer captain and a star player on the team. She takes her passions very seriously and it shows.
To anyone thinking about joining the Palisade Girls Soccer team, Fricke says,
“Our program is very successful and has a great dynamic through the coaching staff and players that will allow for fun, excitement, and foster a competitive environment.” Managing school and sports may seem like a lot but it’s definitely not impossible. Once again, congratulations to Kate Fricke for earning this week’s Athlete of the Week!
