At Palisade High School, the Student Council plays a big part in fun events and helps give students the opportunity to have a voice in the school setting. STUCO finds a way to make school more fun and enjoyable for both the students and staff.
At the moment, Student Council has been planning things for Valentines day, which is just around the corner. Freshman Student Council member Mya Martin says, “So right now we are working on these Valentine’s flower gram sales where people can buy flowers and Hershey kisses then send them to people that they care about.” These candy grams give people the chance to surprise the people they care about with a special treat. STUCO is constantly planning something fun and they are never not busy. They are also currently planning “Kindness is Contagious Week” which is a District wide event to raise kindness awareness.
After being asked what kind of goals STUCO has for the school right now, sophomore Genevieve Seymour responded with, “Honestly we have a lot of goals, right now we are working on Kindness is Contagious week, and with that, we are trying to make Palisade a more creative and inclusive environment for everybody and making sure the students feel like they have a voice in school.” Right now, STUCO’s main focus is getting things moving for Prom and Kindness is Contagious week that starts on February 9th 2026. Seymour continued to say, “My favorite part about being in STUCO is the community, we have a very tight knit group. We all spend so much time together, there’s stressful moments and also really fun moments. Every single day, I find myself looking forward to coming to the cafeteria because I always end up having fun no matter what we are doing. I also love just being able to have a voice in the school.” Being in STUCO for sure has its ups and downs but Seymour makes the most out of being in Student Council. STUCO has a huge impact on Palisade as a whole because there’s a lot of things that go on behind the scenes that people may not know about. Little things that you see around the school such as hallways that are decorated, are because of STUCO.
