As the year comes to an end and summer is on the way, the Palisade High School StuCo put together a sunny social day, full of games, movies, free ice pops, yearbooks, and many other activities. Students had an extended lunch of an hour and forty five minutes and slightly shorter classes. The energy during lunch was up, and many people were running around with their friends, enjoying their hour-and-a-half-long lunch. A movie was shown in the auditorium: The Princess Bride. Games such as Volleyball, Basketball, and Netball were in the gym. Stuco did a great job with this, especially because the weather was not playing in their favor. Unfortunately, the weather ended up being windy and cold.
This year looked a little different than others. In past years, we called this day “Messy Day,” and on this day, teams got together and played outdoor games, with the big competition being slip-and-slide kickball. Some kids really liked how this year went, but others shared their opinions. Freshman Brynley Cejka shares, “I really like the sunny social; it was nice to get out of class and hang out with my friends.” With finals coming up, it was a nice break for students to let loose and relieve the stress of school for a short hour. Cejka goes on to say “From what I hear from the upperclassmen, years before have been more fun because there were more outside games and water activities, which would’ve been nice with the warm weather.” Sadly, the weather wasn’t playing in our favor, and we had to do our outside games in the gym, but with all of the chaos, Stuco pulled it all off well.
