Palisade High School is proud to announce junior Violet Welker as this week’s Student of the Week. Known for her hard work and positive outlook, Violet is making waves both in the classroom and on the court.
When she learned about the honor, Violet admits she was “surprised, but felt good” to be recognized. A big part of what keeps her going through her daily grind is the environment brought by Mrs. McFarlin, a teacher who has had a significant impact on her academic journey. “Her way of teaching, but also making students feel supported, makes me want to do better in class,” Violet shared. That sense of support is helping her tackle all of her challenges. Currently, Violet is focused on sharpening her skills in Algebra II, showing a determined mindset toward a subject she says is definitely not her favorite, and proving that she is living out her own advice everyday.
If you don’t see Violet in the halls, Violet is a well-rounded student who stays busy long after school. Whether she’s competing in the sand or on the hardwood, her passion for sports is always there. She is an avid player of both beach and indoor volleyball for Palisade. Whenever she isn’t on the court, she finds balance through reading and painting.
When asked what she’d tell other students who are trying to find their way at Palisade, Violet’s advice to her fellow Bulldogs is simple: “Always be yourself and don’t expect anything less, because the best will come to you when you work hard for it.”
Congratulations to Violet Welker for her dedication to her studies, her sports, and for being this weeks Student of the Week!
