In wrestling this week’s athlete of the week is sophomore Kenedy Kostur who has shown endurance and perseverance throughout the week in her sport. Kostur shares, “I am new this year, so mostly all the different moves, and making sure that I have improvement from the beginning to the end.” Kostur is wanting to get better at wrestling, she is working toward having better handling in her moves and how fast she can get her moves done. With this being Kostur’s first year in wrestling, it is inspiring to work hard in not only your sport but your goals that you have. Kostur also shares her biggest inspiration. Kostur states, “All the seniors, coming into the sport new and a sophomore, it was hard for me to really connect with anyone. All the seniors are so good and they’re just so welcoming.” Knowing that she has people that will inspire her even though this is her first year doing wrestling, it shows how welcoming people can be without picking out the “new” and the “old”.
Kostur shares what she has learned just from being in wrestling just for this season. Kostur states, “Stick it out, because that first two weeks was a struggle, I thought to myself, “What did I get myself into?” But I stuck it out, and I ended up making some really good friends and having a really good time.” Clearly, it was a struggle for Kostur to get into the routine of wrestling and wanted to quit, but she had a fire lit in her and she persevered. Thankfully she did because she wouldn’t be where she would be today and she wouldn’t have the friends she has today. With Kostur persevering through the first two weeks, it shows how a bulldog really is even though there are struggles!
