This week’s female Athlete of the Week is junior Gabrielle Spriggs; provided to you by Palisade Dino Mart. Spriggs was chosen as Athlete of the Week for Speech and Debate, not only is she in Speech and Debate, but she is also an officer for FCCLA.
Spriggs has done a great job at proving that even though it may be hard, balancing hobbies and school isn’t impossible. Being in Speech and Debate and FCCLA at the same time can be hard to manage, however Spriggs always finds the good in these activities and makes the most out of it, “I feel like I benefit from Speech and Debate because it helps my communication skills, it definitely makes me a more confident person.” Speech and Debate requires a plethora of expertise and Spriggs does a great job at prioritizing it all.
Spriggs also mentions that she benefits from Speech and Debate and enjoys it, “I think I benefit from Speech and Debate because it helps my communication skills, it definitely makes me a more confident person. It’s really nice to be good at something that isn’t a traditional sport.” Speech and Debate isn’t known as a conventional sport but it still requires an insane amount of talent and skill. To those thinking about joining Speech and Debate, Spriggs says, “Please please please join Speech and Debate, we actually have a lot of fun and it’s like the more you are there, the more stuff you find to do.” If you are on the fence about joining Speech and Debate, think about the benefits and how you could benefit from it.
