The last game of the season was this last Wednesday.The game ended with a 1-5 Palisade loss. Palisade played Grand Junction two times this season, both ending with Grand Junction’s varsity team having a victorious win. As for this game, Grand junction had a lead of 2-1 in the first half. Palisade’s team was competing and holding Grand Junction to a stop for the first, ten minutes. Palisade’s goalkeeper, Eithyn Janssen, had an insight of the whole field and had about ten saves throughout the entirety of the game. Janssen said, “In the very beginning we were very connected and we lost all of our composure in the second.” During the second half of the game, Palisade started struggling with holding their positions and being able to find their confidence, giving up late goals to Junction. The official handed out six yellow cards, and three red cards to Palisade. One of these yellows went to Grand Junction. James Uribe, a midfielder for Palisade Varsity team, says, “we were really working hard in the first half but we all went downhill and we didn’t prepare enough.” The Palisade team has been trying to make it to the finals, only needing to tie with the Grand Junction Tigers, and the Montrose RedHawks. Trenton Pike is a Senior on the team playing Center Back. Pike commented, “I was frustrated mostly because we had so many stops and fouls. It really took a toll on us.”
Palisade ended the season with a loss, not only ending with shame but ending with half of the Seniors on the bench. Palisade is anticipating more of their seasons to go in their favor from now on.
