The Palisade Bulldogs had a packed week with back-to-back meets on Saturday, April 25, and Monday, April 27. The Bulldogs went to Denver on Friday to compete in the highly competitive Liberty Bell Invitational. The weather was pretty good, and when the weather is good, the better the Bulldogs compete.
Junior Lizzie Snover, who competes in the 100, 200, 400, 4×2, and sometimes the 4×1, was asked about her thought process when she crosses the finish line, and during her events, she said, “I think to keep pushing my arms, and when I finish, I think how I just finished a long race.” Having those thoughts really helps you get through your sport. And help push yourself through when not doing your best, or just to stay positive. Not only does she compete in those events, but she PR’d in the 100, 200, and 400. That’s pretty impressive for Sonver, and with those, she could be going to the national championship.
Looking at Senior Lila Huddle, whose events are long jump, high jump, and triple jump, when asked about how she did personally, she said: “I did ok but definitely could have done a lot better”. Huddle also states, “The high jump mat is uphill,” and that made it really difficult for Huddle to participate in high jump, and not just her, but other people too, and that’s why she said she didn’t do the best, but could have done better. Huddle competes in only three events, and with her being very tall and long-legged, those are very efficient for her to participate in, not just because she’s tall and long, but also because she’s very athletic and good at jumping.
