On Tuesday, April 6th, the Grand Junction Boys lacrosse team, full of Palsiade students, played Fruita Monument at CMU at 7:30 pm. From the start of the game, you could tell Junction was ready to play. Their energy and communication really stood out, and Fruita had a rough start. But from the beginning, after the first quarter, the game was neck to neck, with the Wildcats at least two points behind the Tigers until we flipped a switch and left them in the dust.
The Grand Junction lacrosse team absolutely destroyed the Fruita Wildcats to the point where it was upsetting to watch, but they still put in all their effort and never went easy on them.
After interviewing Senior Tristin Brinton about his thoughts on the game, he said, “We as a team played well against Fruita…we came with a lot of energy, and it was fun to play as a team.” Playing as a team is key to winning against rival teams. Brinton also said, “It feels good to beat Fruta by that much.” It always feels good to beat one of your biggest rival teams by 11. He added, “Our end goal isn’t to beat Fruita but to play at the end of May.” If Junction continues to play how they are, they have high chances of making it past the playoffs.
With Junctions’ record right now being 10-1, they have some pretty high hopes of making it to May and winning the championship.
So buckle up to see the Grand Junction Boys lacrosse team play Judge Memorial Catholic on April 17 at 4 pm at Grand Junction High School.
