This week’s Student of the Week goes to Carter Hayward. Hayward is a two sport student-athlete, participating in football and basketball. On top of all these sports he balances his education and stays ahead of his school work. Hayward shows dedication, hard work, and persistence.
Hayward states, “This makes me feel great. We have such an amazing student body here at Palisade, and I feel like anybody is deserving of the reward. So I think being recognised and being able to oversee this reward is huge.” Hayward stays motivated through his teachers as he says, “My teachers are a big part of it, I have some amazing teachers that always want the best for me, and I trust that they are always looking out for me.” Hayward also gives credit to his friend group saying, “I have a good group of friends who are able to motivate me in class and gets me to stay on task.” When Hayward was asked about his classes he responded with, “I like all of them, I think all of them have their different nuances and everybody has their own niche.” Hayward was asked how he balances school work and his sports, he responded by saying, “Being able to set aside some time in my day. If that means in my study hall, knowing I have an assignment to do and making sure I do it or when I get home from practice I can’t just go watch tv, I have to go do some homework. Having parents who keep me and hold me accountable are a big thing.” Hayward says, “I’m pretty undecided about my future plans, just trying to keep all my doors open and I just wanna go with the flow.”
Hayward clearly has his Bulldog pride and leaves the interview by saying, “Go Dogs!” Congratulations to Carter Hayward for receiving student of the Week, he truly encapsulates what it means to be a Palisade Bulldog.
