After a four year hiatus that left fans questioning its future, HBO’s explosive drama Euphoria returns on April 12th, 2026, launching a third season that pushes its characters far beyond the chaos of high school and into a darker, more uncertain adulthood. Euphoria is a teenage drama created by Sam Levinson, following Rue Bennett, a struggling teenage drug addict and her classmates as they navigate the pressures of adolescence. It has become one of HBO’s most watched shows since its 2019 debut. The previous season ended with each character dealing with the consequences of their choices.
Euphoria explores themes of addiction and recovery, following the story of Rue, that centers on drug addiction, relapse, and the emotional distance it created between her and others. It also follows the theme of trauma and mental health, where trauma is the invisible engine behind many character choices. Although these themes are very deep and dark, they matter because they mirror the challenges and contradictions teens navigate right now. Additionally, these themes make teens feel seen in a world that rarely slows down.
The new season of Euphoria is expected to time jump a few years in the characters’ lives and dive deeper into the characters’ fallout from last season. It promises darker drama, new storylines, and a closer look at how each character tries to rebuild their lives. Palisade Junior Surai Lallament is especially excited for the new Euphoria season, “I have always been a big fan of Euphoria, I feel like it represents things a lot of teens struggle with” she expresses, “I just want answers, the last season ended on such a cliffhanger, and I have so many questions.” No matter what surprises the new season brings, it’s clear that Euphoria will once again be at the center of student conversations.
