It’s another year, and one of the unfortunate aspects of each school year is the fact that some teachers leave, and this year is no different. But this year, beloved art teacher Laura Raper is retiring after 31 years of teaching. She was going to wait a couple more years before leaving, but after some consideration, she concluded that it’s time to step away from teaching and retire. Raper said she’s going to focus on her studio art. The impact that Mrs. Raper has had on this school is extraordinary. The way the students talk about Mrs. Raper is incredible; it seems like everybody seems to love Mrs. Raper’s presence and the joy that she brings to the classroom. The students love her as a teacher, and a lot of students are really going to miss her when she’s gone. For example, Alyssa Janke, a Mrs. Raper fanatic, says, “I am really going to miss Mrs. Raper”. She’s loved by most in the school. She’s a really nice teacher with tons of kids who love her and are so sad to see her go. The achievements that Mrs.Raper has achieved are astounding, such as her reaching the age of 31 years in her teaching career, and how she’s learned how to make the most of everything when it comes to art. Seeing some of her projects and pieces is really inspiring to know that if you love something that much, if you put true time into it, you can become a professional, and this is possible in every part of the world. So don’t let the news of Mrs. Raper leaving make you sad; instead, let it inspire you to commit to the everything that you do and follow whatever it is you’re doing to the fullest
