On Tuesday, March 31st, the Junction girls lacrosse team, full of Palisade athletes, had an away game against Telluride. They lost 13-14, but they didn’t let that loss get to them and realised what they needed to improve before their next game.
After interviewing Seniors, Zoanne Smith and Dylan Mcnally talked about their perspectives on the game against Telluride. Smith and Mcnally both were super honest and agreed on how it wanst there best performance and how they are going to do a lot better next time. They both took that close loss as a lot more because losing by one is the worst thing to happen in sports, knowing you could have done better and done one thing to change the whole game.
After being asked how they thought the game went Mcnally said: “defence and offences were struggling a little bit”. Smith added, “attack kept losing the ball,” and in lacross keeping the possession is literally the whole point of the game, and that goes for almost every sport. You can’t score if you don’t have the ball or any control over it. And when asked about what to work on for the next game Mcnally said, “Sliding and hedging for defence…and as a team, ball control.” And after being asked what a positive from the game Mcnally said, “We kept our spirit up”. Smith also added, “We still put out our best effort in the fourth quarter.” Only if they had kept that mentality the whole game, it could have changed how it ended, because in all sports, the fourth quarter is what really determines the game.
Come out and support the Palisade girls at their game TBD, because of a game cancellation.
