The annual Senior Assassin game kicked off this week, on Friday, March 27th. Sending Palisade seniors all over town with water blasters, elaborate strategies, and plenty of competitive energy. The senior class turned into a stealthy swarm of competitors, each determined to outlast the rest with an 800 prize on the line.
Each team is assigned a target, but the real twist comes in the weekly rhythm of immunity goggles, where players choose one day between Friday and Wednesday to wear them, making them untouchable that day. And when Thursday hits, all bets are off during the Purge, a free for all where anyone can be eliminated. However, no shots can be taken on school grounds or at sporting events, ensuring the competition stays fun and out of the classroom. At Palisade, a senior assassin comes with a weekly twist. Every Friday, eliminated players get a chance to re-enter the game and receive brand new targets. The rotating assignments keep the competition fresh and unpredictable, setting it apart from more traditional versions played at other schools.
This year’s senior assassin has drawn an impressive 84 participants. Among them, team Fidel Perale and Nathan Umberger have emerged as an early powerhouse. Many players admit they’re the most feared competitors in the game. However, senior assassin is more than just a competition, as Palisade Senior Lyla Lancaster explained, “Senior assassin is not only fun, but it really brings the senior class together. It forces people to talk and interact with people in their class that they might not interact with on a regular basis.” As the game continues to unfold it’s a reminder of how much this senior class has shared and how much they’ve grown.
