In honor of Grand Junction Girls Lacrosse player junior Alex Campbell for reaching a major milestone on March 23, scoring her 100th goal during their matchup against Telluride. The Tigers’ standout midfielder celebrated the goal with visible pride as teammates rushed in to celebrate the moment. Despite the loss of 13-14, Campbell’s achievements marked a bright moment for the Grand Junction girls lacrosse team. Campbell states, “ As I shot it, I watched it go into the net, which was also very satisfying. It just went in like butter on bread. I turned to Jackie ( Flores), and we both started screaming because it felt unreal. I can’t believe I just made this against one of my favorite teams to play. I’m friends with a ton of girls in Telluride, and I got to celebrate with people I grew up with as well.” Campbell’s reaction underlines just how meaningful the moment was not only as a stats goal, but as a deeply personal milestone. The immediate celebration with teammates captured the emotional rush of realizing she had delivered a standout performance against a team she grew up competing alongside. The moment showed athletic achievement and pride, making the goal resonate far beyond the scoreboard. Campbell claims to want the next level when saying, “ I think I’m on track by the end of Senior year to get 200 goals. So that’s kind of my goal as well, as maybe 250 to 300 points total throughout my career. “
With goals like that, Campbell’s on the right track. Already setting the mark for future players to follow. Chasing down the next level of points is like the natural next step for this athlete. Congratulations Tiger!
