As spring continues to grow warmer into the end of the school year, not only is the weather lately on fire but the track season has been too. Track has been an ongoing fight for these powerful and strong Palisade High School long distance runners, sprinters, hurdlers, throwers, and jumpers as they continue to improve and get better this spring’s track season. With their last meet being at stocker stadium on the 24th of April and some other meets previous as one in North Fork over spring break, as well as a meet previous of that at stocker stadium, and one the 13th of March in Rifle. Senior Hank Deford, who is focused on long distance running, with track as well as cross country states, “It’s been going really well. I think the team is really strong this year.” Deford further states, “We have lots of dedicated individuals, and we are looking really strong.” When asked how it’s looking for all areas of this track season including jumping and throwers he states, “We’re looking good in all areas including throwing, jumping, sprinting, and distance. So all around, it looks like PHS has had a very strong start this season.”
The track season doesn’t only come with fast runners, meets, and student athletes reaching their PRs and goals but also injuries. But so far the Palisade Highschool track team has been moving along strongly. Deford explained, “We’re building strength and we’re staying injury free, and we’re getting progressively stronger every meet.”
As the season goes on and the runners get stronger as well as the competition, be tuned to see what goals and peaks the PHS track team will reach this year as they continue sprinting into the competition as individuals and as a team.
