This 25-2026 school year is the last year many teachers will be here at Palisade, including Mrs. Rush and Mr. Rush. Mrs. Rush has been teaching at Palisade High School for 31 years now, starting in 1993. Mrs.Rush started teaching English for 14 years, and after that, went straight into Social Studies, such as AP US history, Human Geography, and global studies. Mr.Rush, on the other hand, started teaching in 1994, making this his 30th year teaching at Palisade. Mr. Rush has always stuck to teaching physical education (PE) such as regular PE classes, lifetime activity, personal fitness and wellness, and also weight classes. But also, along with his teaching career, he is also deciding to retire from his coaching career. Mr. Rush has been coaching for over 30 years, making him a coach long before a teacher. He coached football with some other coaches and was also the head wrestling coach.
When asked about how Mrs. Rush felt about her teaching career coming to an end by the end of this school year, she said, “ I’m so excited because I get to have this kind of freedom moving forward and in august I wont be concerned about getting ready to go back to school but also it will also be a little sentimental because I’ve devoted so many years to this job and its kind of like im just leaving it all behind but I know in the long run it will just be so beneficial for me.”
Mr. Rush was asked the same question about how he felt about his teaching and coaching career coming to an end. He said, “It’s really been a great career. I’ve enjoyed it a lot, but coming into this year, my wife and I kind of thought this would be our last year, and just looking at everything over it, it was a great and perfect year to retire, and we’re very excited about retiring and looking forward to the next stage in our lives.” It is truly astonishing how many years and how much spirit these two put into teaching at Palisade, so if you get the chance, congratulate Mrs. Rush and Mr. Rush on how much they’ve done for Palisade High School.
