The Palisade Bulldogs kicked off their season on March 7th, taking on Fossil Ridge in a matchup that featured a solid hitting performance. The Bulldogs defeated fossil ridge with a final score of 12 to 9. Palisade allowed nine hits, and striked out 11. As a team, the Bulldogs collected 11 hits and accumulated nine runs. The Bulldogs spent most of the night clawing their way back, trailing 3–0 in the second inning and still down 3–0 in the third before finally getting on the board. They cut the deficit to 4–1 in the fourth and inched closer at 4–3 by the fifth, only to gain a lead of 10–4 in the sixth. But the Bulldogs refused to fold. In a stunning seventh‑inning surge, they erupted for storming back to steal a 12–9 victory in dramatic fashion.
Player Junior Ethan Bevan said the comeback didn’t surprise him, explaining that the Bulldogs knew they were facing a good team, but being prepared made and their strong team chemistry kept them confident. “We were all able to put that all together to pull off the win.” said Bevan. The win was an amazing debut for the Bulldogs, who fell to this same team last season but flipped the script this time around. Bevan emphasized “We started off slow, we were down four runs, then a few things happened that overturned the game.” Bevan gave a special shoutout to teammate Will Seriani, a senior, because he had a grand slam, and that helped solidify the win. With the victory secured, the Bulldogs left the field setting a strong tone for the rest of the season.
