On Saturday, February 28th, the Palisade Girls Basketball team was set up to face George Washington High School in the second round of Playoffs. The girls had been preparing all year for this knowing this they had worked hard leading up to this important weekend. The girls basketball team ended the regular season on February 20th with a loss to Fruita Monument High School with a score of 43-28. This put their record at 13-11 and ending 3rd in league with a record of 5-5. This record placed them 19th in the state securing them a buy in the first round of Playoffs, therefore matching them up with George Washington High School and the second round of Playoffs. Knowing that they would have to travel for their first game, the Palisade, team prepared all week for a long trip over the mountain to the Denver atmosphere. Knowing this head coach, Don Bavor had set to leave out early Friday morning, allowing them to practice Friday night and Saturday morning before their game at 1:00 p.m. on February 28th. Sophomore Imari Bosshardt states,“All of us were prepared for different types of things. Especially, the girls on the team, they’re very hard competition, so I think we were 100% prepared for the game, and the other players on the other team, I think we wern’t entirely with how they played defense on use. We also needed to improve our defiance.” Bosshardt has been on Varsity both years of high school experiencing two defeating Playoff losses. Knowing this Bosshardt has made sure to have an impact on the court. Bosshardt leads the team in steals with an average of 3 per game. Bosshardt shoots 28% from behind the 3 point line. She will definitely be the player to watch out for next year.
