Recently the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) blocked an interview between Stephen Colbert ‘late night show host’ and James Talarico ‘the Texas Democratic candidate’. The reason that this was an issue is because the man who runs FCC is Brendan Carr. Carr put this in place with the knowledge that CBS and Paramount. This merger was planned before and this interview and it was the interview was shut down and taken off the schedule.
This was resolved but the interview was very political, bringing up the topic of Donald Trump saying “I think that Donald Trump is worried that we’re about to flip Texas” By NBC News. This is showing the political side of the interview with the understanding that they were bringing up the president of the United States. Also this was because of Carr being a supporter of Trump. Colbert jokes about Trump wanting to silence any television that talks bad about him or the Republican party although it was in a joking matter it was still said.
This was a problem with the interview that was not allowing it to go on the air. And that is why Carr and the FCC blocked the interview with Talarico and Colbert from making it on to the live CBS channel only. These problems were overcome and they had time to smooth things out. So Colbert and Carr are no longer in disagreement but Colbert is still in disagreement with the Trump administration. Cause backlash and disapproval from the public and this is why people are not as interested in late night television and they don’t always want to hear about politics while they are watching late night tv.
