Last Tuesday, February 11th, Palisade High School was filled with excitement and emotions as the annual “Kindness is Contagious” assembly came to Palisade High School. The assembly was the kick start to Kindness is Contagious week, introducing an exciting week filled with kindness. This year involved a guest speaker, Doctor Rizzo, and a different atmosphere and emotional significance to the student and staff body at Palisade High School. It involved the importance behind healing your inner self, encouraging yourself, raising expectations, and overcoming villains. All of the first letters to these standards spelt out the word, HERO, which is what Dr. Rizzo focused on throughout this assembly. She explained the significance of having a hero in your life and how it gives young people the boost of confidence that they need. Freshman James Gregory displayed his inner confidence and his dancing skills during this assembly and had much input on the assembly. When asked what motivated him to build up the courage to put on the show that he did, Gregory states, “I kind of wanted to show the spirit of what the assembly was about, and when I saw that it was a dancing party, I kind of wanted to show off my wild side.” Everyone at the assembly was very expressive of the impressive skill and boldness that they saw in Gregory’s performance.
“The biggest impact is showing that the world is a hard place, but a bit of kindness can show through a lot more. Kindness is like a light in the darkness,” comments Gregory, when asked what the biggest impact the assembly had. A huge thank you to Dr. Rizzo for sharing the impactful story and putting joy into the hearts of students at Palisade High School. Don’t forget that kindness is contagious every day of the year and keep wearing a smile!
