Here at Palisade Highschool there is a program called the Pathway program a Program where you take special classes and Internships are set in place to where once you graduate from high school you get a special certificate that helps get special positions in jobs earlier than others like in the culinary arts pathway once you complete the program you get a special certificate that lets you start at a higher level in a restaurant the second you get there. This week’s Future Student of the Week is Aspen Johnson, a student who has been in the pathways since her sophomore year of high school. Now a senior, she is doing great things like proving she can be a leader at this year’s FBLA, where she said “ she selected a district conference team and hosted a regional conference for 500 people”. Which is crazy, she also thinks that the regional conference is the reason that she got chosen as the Future Student of the Week. That could be very possible, but after hearing all that she does for the pathways, like recruiting people, doing countless internships and finding out all different kinds of things she would probably enjoy doing in the future, and FBLA. The things she’s doing for FBLA is just as great: she is selecting teams from across schools in the valley to go and compete to win the trophy In business which is crazy to think about because just a couple weeks ago we heard about all the students that did well in the FBLA tournament which could mean that it was her team that did well at the tournament. And talking to her about other things about pathways, she said, “everybody who has a future career with the pathways should join. It’s a great opportunity to get credits or certificates and gives you a head start”. So if you have an idea of where you want your life to go, take a look at the pathways and see if you can start today.
