Palisade high school’s girls basketball team faced a very difficult match up on Friday night. Traveling to Montrose they faced a tough loss, losing to the Hawks with a score 28-58 Before the opening tip off the bulldogs knew this was gonna be a hard game. Right out of the gate Montrose took off with the game scoring 19 points while Palisade scored 1 only in the first quarter. The Bulldogs looked to try to turn things around but ultimately failed scoring 8, 7, and 12 points in the next 3 quarters. Following this loss Palisade dropped to a record of 11-6 and Montrose went undefeated with a record of 18-0. During the game Montrose brought constant pressure making it hard for Palisade to score, putting them in even more of a deficit throughout the game. Despite this the Bulldogs kept a great mentality. Sadie Bunker, a senior here at Palisade stated “My favorite part about the game was after half time we were down by about 20 but all the girls still went out there and made the most out of it. Still having fun and keeping the same mentality as we had at the start.” Gracie Cooper, a junior here at Palisade, dropped an impressive 10 points on the night, being the highest scorer on the team. Imari Bosshardt followed close behind with 9 points to end the night. Even with a tough loss the Bulldogs continue to practice hard and keep the same mentality they had to start the season learning from the losses and apply them to their upcoming games.
