The counselors are in the corner. They have been doing their jobs, making sure that kids are safe and making sure the office keeps up on all events. After interviewing Ms. Steeves, she comments about things that are coming to an end, like the Career Center and CMU Tech sign-up sheets that are so easy to find. “All you have to do is go on your phone and fill out the signup sheet”: The time is running out, and if you need to sign up, now’s the time. If you don’t, you will run out of time and will have to wait until next year and miss out on awesome opportunities like culinary, mechanics, or woodworking. Or at CMU, you could miss out on so many opportunities for school and extra credits that are super easy to get by just completing classes that you enjoy and want to pursue in your future. Other things have happened, like the talk about suicide and how to identify the problems and report them so nothing really bad happens. Ms. Steeves said that that went pretty well, even saying that, “It’s really nice to see kids being involved,” which could mean that in past years they have been quieter and not talkative as much, which could’ve been good or bad. But Ms. Steeves thinks when kids get involved, they are actually learning things and not just sitting there zoning out, not paying attention. Maybe they are feeling the same things the videos are and they aren’t saying anything about it. Be sure to listen to the announcements in the morning, we have more things coming over the horizon, but Ms. Steeves said, “The most important right now is to make sure that you get your Career Center and CMU permission slips in”. So talk to your counselor and see if you are eligible for the awesome opportunities at CMU tech and Career Center
