On Friday, January 23rd boys basketball team played Fruita Monument High School, one of Palisades local rivals.
It was a very intense, fast paced, and ferrous game with the gym being packed with parents from both teams and the student sections generating a very loud environment.
After interviewing Junior Jax Bavor who dunked at the end of the game not just to bring a win but also bring a dunk on our biggest rivalry team showing them that we are the “dogs”. Bavor also said “We played really well and it was the first time ever in a long time that we have beat Fruita Monument High School and have been this good in palisade history.” With the Bulldogs 15-1 streak they have a lot of other opponents on their back.
After interviewing Junior Carter Hayward about his thoughts in the game he said “I think we played really well and focused on us and not what was happening in the crowd.” Hayward has been in many types of games where the crowd is loud and hayward is a good enough player to be able to block out what’s happening around him. And that comes with being a really good player.
It was the first time Palisade has won against Fruita in a long time the team had gone 15-1. They have a lot of teams coming for them but the type of chemistry they have built throughout the season can be unstoppable to win the league title or get really close to it.
In basketball you have to have great team chemistry in order to win but that comes with everyone sharing the ball and being friends on the team and not focusing on your needs but the team’s needs and that’s the type of team the Palisade Bulldogs are. It was such an electric night for the Bulldogs
And this week the Bulldogs took home a win against Gleedwood and had a game of Friday on the road to Montrose, so cheer the Bulldogs on to take home another win!
