As we come close to the end of our winter sports season, boys wrestling is one of those sports that is concluding. There are three weeks remaining for this season with a great outcome such as all the team support and all the improvements that have been made through the season. After speaking with Junior Eiden Contreras, he states that the highlights of this season were the challenging match up against Cedaredge. “It made us stronger and better as a team, we haven’t beaten them in years and after winning them over it just felt like a confidence boost” he said. As a team, they are not only strong, but they also hold a tight bond with one another. Seeing the amazing impact that comes along with working together and training hard as a team holds more value than just the win itself. “Although I felt like I could have improved more I’m not upset with my performance because there are always ways to improve and I could just reflect more on it in the future” Contreras said, our team strives for the best and is always looking for ways to improve, not just be the best. Fortunately, lifting each other up, being there as a team, showing up, and getting all these wins together is what makes our wrestling team special. Hard work pays off and so does coming close together. They represent not only athletes of our school, but also great students who participate in outside circulars that make our school great. “To any upcoming freshman who are afraid and want to try wrestling, don’t be afraid because the community of people is great and you won’t do it alone. There’s always room to learn and improve in your skills and you’ll have time, just try your best”, despite all the challenges throughout this season, there have been many improvements and people to uplift you along the way. As a team they will continue to grow as they go into the future season.
