On Saturday January 17th, Bo Nix, the quarterback of the Denver Broncos, suffered a season ending injury in his ankle during the playoff game against the Buffalo Bills. This leaves the Broncos with the back up quarterback, Jarrett Stidham. Mason Kopp, a Junior here at Palisade High School and Broncos superfan for many years, couldn’t believe the news. He said “All my family thought it was a prank, but it was dead serious.” Kohlter Howard, another Junior at Palisade, was heartbroken to hear the news. “I saw that he [Bo Nix] was injured, out for the season. I cried and I lost a lot of hope for a second.” Although this is unfortunate news, these students still have hope for the Broncos and Stidham. Howard says “I’m sure it hit them [Broncos] hard, I mean that’s your team’s quarterback, that’s one of your captains and that’s always hard when you lose a captain. It’s a hard thing to come back from, but I think that the other captains on the team have stepped up as leaders. Sean Payton did a good job at keeping the morale up and proving that Jarrett’s ready to start.” When asked about Jarrett Stidham, Howard described him as a “Dog” and believes he will win Superbowl MVP. While Kopp says “As long as Stidham doesn’t do anything bad and plays like a normal QB, we’ll be fine and come out with a win.” Throughout the years the Broncos and their fanbase have had many highs and lows. What we learned from these Palisade students is that we need to have faith and believe in the team. Together as Broncos fans, we Bo-lieve.
