On Saturday February 28th, Reese Blackburn, a junior at Palisade High School, will be hosting a dodgeball tournament at Pear Park Elementary in order to raise money for Wesley Reimer. Reimer, a sophomore, was involved in a life-threatening accident on November 30th, 2025. The fundraiser was created to help cover medical expenses and support the Reimer family during this difficult time.
The dodgeball tournament will be open to students and members of the community, giving everyone the opportunity to contribute to a meaningful cause. Participants will compete in teams, with all proceeds from the event going directly towards Reimer’s medical bills and any future expenses related to his recovery. By hosting the event at Pear Park Elementary, Reese hopes to create a welcoming and accessible environment for both students, friends, and families to attend and show their support.
Reese Blackburn, the student behind the fundraiser, shared her motivation for organizing the event, stating, “I did this to help others learn to look at people who are struggling or need help. It will also lower the pressure on the Reimer family.” Reese has spent countless hours planning and refining the fundraiser, including creating posters, setting up Google Forms for registration, making school announcements, and sharing the event throughout the community.
Her dedication and determination have not gone unnoticed, and she is expecting a large turnout and a strong amount of support from students and families alike. Events like this highlight the positive impact students can have when they come together for a shared purpose. Through the challenges they are facing, the Reimer family has remained grounded in their faith and has continued to stay extremely positive. The dodgeball tournament serves as a reminder of the strength and unity of the Palisade community during times of hardship.
