A traditional American pastime is currently in the midst of one of the most thrilling periods of the National Football League season; the playoffs. This is when the top NFL teams that have displayed next level performance and records make it to the opportunity to play in the most exciting and rewarding part of NFL football, the Super Bowl 59.
It is no easy task making it to the Super Bowl, and this year rookie and veteran quarterbacks are hoping to secure the title for the NFL Championship. In order to make it to the playoffs, an NFL team would have finished as one of the four division winners in their conference (American Football Conference or the National Football Conference) or by securing one of the three Wild Card spots in which a team would secure one of these Wild Card spots by finishing their regular season with one of the best remaining records in their conference. The playoffs started with a total of 14 teams with seven teams for each conference, and there are currently four remaining teams in this final stage of the Championship Playoffs.
On January 25th, the Denver Broncos will be facing the New England Patriots, and the Los Angeles Rams will be facing the Seattle Seahawks. The winners of these next two games will determine which team will go to the Super Bowl and which team will put an end to their long season. After a very successful win against the Buffalo Bills for the Denver Broncos with a score of 33-30 in overtime, Rookie quarterback Bo Nix suffered from a fracture in his ankle during the second to last play in the game and his injury was not revealed until after the game. This setback to the team will lower the chances of the Broncos advancing, but many Broncos fans still believe that this will be the year for the Broncos to win the Super Bowl. A senior at Palisade High School, Jeremiah Smith has been a Broncos fan for as long as he can remember and had much input on the Broncos win. “The game was a lot closer than it should have been, and it was a very disappointing turnout that Bo Nix injured himself after securing that win, but I believe that back up quarterback Jarret Stidham is about to create an epic Nick Foles story”, says Smith. Nick Foles was a backup quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles that stepped up for the injured main quarterback leading the team to their first Super Bowl win in 2018. Smith believes that the Broncos will lead an epic victory with their backup quarterback as it has once been done before ultimately leading to the victory for the Broncos in this year’s Super Bowl, making history.
