Girls are often known for doing other sports besides wrestling, but as the sport gains more popularity, the girls take over the mats. Palisade High School is known for having state qualifiers, and regional championships, so this season should not be a problem according to Addison Fox, a Junior at Palisade High School. Fox is involved in FCCLA, Girls Wrestling, and is a manager for the Football team. In a recent interview about wrestling, Fox said, “I originally got into wrestling because my now coach told me and my best friend that we needed to try it and that he was expecting us to be at practice. We ended up going, and had such a great time and I’m so grateful to have gone to that first practice because overall it helped me grow as a person and created bonds with people. I want to encourage others to try it because you never know how much something can change your life unless you try it. I started my freshman year and I haven’t gone to Varsity state, but I did win Junior Varsity (JV) state last year. Last week the Girl’s Wrestling team left to go to the Skyhawk tournament, where our team ended up getting 3rd.” During the interview, Fox was asked how she thinks this season will go, where she said, “Our team has so many great girls wrestling who are all going for state titles. I think that we are going to do even better than we did last year at state and win another title.” Aside from girls wrestling off to a great season, Fox is involved with many other school related activities. Fox states “Along with football managing, I have done FCCLA, where I am a two time national qualifier and have gotten first and second at State.” From the sounds of it, it sounds like this season for Girls Wrestling is off to a great start, and will achieve many wins. Girls Wrestling at Palisade is about to dominate all other teams, GO DAWGS!
