This week, Mrs. Green and Mrs. Tucker have given the title of Futures of the Week to junior, Piper Wesolowski. Wesolowski is a dedicated student involved in many extracurricular activities and is very attentive in her classes. Wesolowski also has leadership roles in almost all of her extracurricular activities. Wesolowski is in National Honor Society, in the Student Council as junior class president, the business and marketing manager in Yearbook, the public relations officer in Family, Career and Community Leaders (FCCLA), the Vice President of our school’s chapter of Stand for the Silent, and Wesolowski still has time to play golf. Wesolowski is also in our school’s futures program, which she was nominated for, for the LEAD (Leading through Effective Accountability and Development) Program.
At Palisade High School, Mrs. Green started offering different pathways, known as our futures program. This includes a firefighting academy, hospitality, education, health science, criminal justice, business, and so many more. These pathways are meant to help a student reach their full potential after high school in their career path, as well as explore what their career path will look like to be prepared for graduation.
Wesolowski is currently in an internship that will help her in her future career as well, thanks to the help of Mrs. Green. Interning with River Hawks, which is a developmental hockey team, Wesolowski is under the operations manager and medium marketing person. She is going to be with them for the rest of the season and is able to see how marketing works. “I get to see how she creates her posts and learn how to use adobe, and do photography for the team, right now only for practices.” Wesolowski states. Later on in the season, Wesolowski will be able to photograph the games later in the season once she, “learns more about the sport.” Wesolowski also says this will help her a lot in her future career path in sports marketing. “This helps me because, working in the sports industry, you need a lot of experience. To be able to gain this experience at such a young age is so valuable, and it is also helping me make sure this is what I want to do,” she states.
Wesolowski states that she has not yet taken the LEAD class, as it is a 2nd semester class, however, all of her roles help her to succeed in her life as a future leader. She states, “All my leadership positions I’m in teach me a lot. In student council, we do leadership activities every once in a while to learn different types of leadership.” Also, Wesolowski stated that she chose LEAD because, “I think leadership is the most valuable skill you can have, and I think that you can always grow in your leadership. I never think you’ve hit your full potential, so I thought it’d be fun to develop my leadership skills.” As a future in public relations or marketing in the sports industry, Wesolowski’s skills as a leader will definitely help her to become very successful. Striving for greatness every day, Wesolowski, along with many other Bulldogs in the past and future, has earned this title. Congratulations and keep up the good work!
