On November 12, the Palisade Bulldogs hosted Vibrant Volleyball. Vibrant Volleyball has almost become a tradition at Palisade High School, where you form your own team of six, regardless of whether there are boys or girls; everyone is welcome to participate, and you play sets to 15 until your team wins.
In recent years, this has been much more inclusive and fun, but this year was just as much fun, with an atmosphere that was equally enjoyable to be in and play in. But when you are playing, it is a lot more fun. But this year, there was going to be a Sadie Hawkins Dance, but STUCO members argued to play Vibrant Volleyball.
Senior Lyla Huddle participated with a team of underclassmen. Huddle said, “It was actually really fun, I just wish there were more teams.” There were only seven teams. When asked about the question, what would be more fun, a Sadie Hawkins Dance or Vibrant Volleyball, she said, “Vibrant volleyball for sure…I think it would be awkward to have a Sadie Hawkins dance,” and not just Huddle, but also other students would want to do Vibrant Volleyball over a Sadie Hawkins Dance.
Freshman Abi Elison played with a whole team of upperclassmen, and this is her first time playing vibrant volleyball. Ellison said, “I actually had a lot of fun playing” with this beng her first time. That’s pretty good because some people definitely thought it could be more fun. Ellison also said, “I wish it were actually neon out and that we paid with the lights off and a lit-up volleyball and more people playing.” If more people were playing and it was actually neon out, it would be so much more fun.
Juniors Ethan Bevan and Marshall Hickerson both participated with a team of volleyball players, being the only two boys with their team who won the whole thing. Winning left and right with their powerful serves. Bevan said, “We really carried the team.” I doubt that the boys really dominated with a full team of volleyball players, although their serves were very persistent and hard. Hickerson said, “It was fun being the only two boys.” Both boys enjoyed being on a team full of volleyball players and getting the chance to win.
Hopefully, next year we can keep the Bulldog spirit up to continue having a fun, interactive school activity next year!
