From November 10th to November 21st us Bulldogs are having our annual food drive, featuring some friendly competition. The competition consists of all third hour teachers and students, each day of the week has their own themes such as hygiene products, pop top cans, high protein products, peanut butter and jelly, pasta day, and then bring non perishable products. They all give each class a different amount of points depending on how many items the class brings in. Mr. Franklin has been in the lead all week long and has been about a thousand points higher than Ms. Huntley is in second place. Dominic Hurd a member of the student council and is also running the food drive, there wasn’t a chance to talk to him so over text he gave me the information that the food drives root is to get more food to the people who need it the most, most of the food will be donated to Salvation Army which is a program that ranges all over Mesa, Delta, and Montrose counties. This will reassure that the food is spread to the people that really need it. This program has many things but it is mainly a program to look out for the people in our counties. The Salvation Army is very popular for their angel trees that are made for the kids that don’t really get to have presents on Christmas.
Also Hank Walton mentioned to us about his specific class, “ They’re doing great, I brought in like two boxes of macaroni and cheese today so we’re doing pretty good.” Contributing to the least fortunate people especially around the holidays can light up so many lives. Walton also adds, “Our strategy is just like, making sure that we all know what date we’re gonna bring stuff and coordination and just making sure that we’ll maximize the amount of points we’re gonna be getting with each donation of food.” Putting a little competition and team building into this can never hurt anyone. Hearing about the great team work amongst Walton’s third hour reassures the community that the Bulldogs have amongst themselves.
