Thanksgiving is a national holiday in the United States celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November, originating from a 1621 harvest feast shared between Pilgrims and Wampanoag Native Americans. Today, it is a day for families and friends to gather for a large meal, reflect on the year’s blessings, and express gratitude. Thanksgiving is not celebrated all over the world, but many countries like Canada, Liberia, Germany, Japan, and Norfolk celebrate it in their own ways with the same similar themes but on different dates. At Palisade Highschool we have many wonderful things to be thankful for, including our teachers, our staff, our lunch ladies, our janitors, and many more wonderful people. We don’t only appreciate adults, we are also thankful for our Stuco team, which is a student-led organization that organizes school spirit, activities, and events that make Palisade High School such an awesome school to learn at. Sophomore Huxley Peak said, “I’m very thankful for my friends and family and how they are always there to support me.” Students are thankful for the friends they have in school and the families they have outside of school. Peak also said, “ In the theme of Palisade, I am very thankful for the great teachers, coaches, and staff we have because without them we would not be able to play sports and learn at the same time.” This goes to show that student athletes are very grateful for their coaches, teachers, and staff who make playing sports in high school possible.

Yo I’m Santiago. I’m a Sophomore and this is my first year writing for Palisade. I enjoy playing soccer, P.E, and math. When I’m not playing soccer or doing math, you can find me watching soccer or football games. I’m excited to start sharing stories about Palisade and showcasing what happens at our school.
