Student Of The Week: Hank Deford

This week’s spotlight falls on Palisade Senior Hank Deford, who’s dedication and spirit has earned him Student of the Week. One word perfectly fit to describe Deford is an achiever. He is an IB student, a student council vice president, and he was honored to win Junior of the year in the previous year. He not only had numerous academic triumphs, but Deford was also very dedicated to extracurriculars and sports. He is the co-founder of the Climbing Club and lets not forget, a State qualifier for cross country. Deford isn’t stopping there, one of his biggest goals at the moment is placing top ten in the state for cross country, but some more general goals he has is, “To just be more balanced with school, not spending too much time on it, but still be able to get things done.” In five years Deford plans on getting his masters, or just jumping into the field as a biologist.
One of his biggest influences is Mrs.Noble. She helped him find his passion in school and encouraged him to be his best. Outside of influences, Deford deals with hardships and stays motivated in school by, “Taking a step back and hanging out with friends or doing other things that I’m passionate about.” If Deford could have one super power, it would be time travel so he could meet anyone from any time. Deford shows the qualities we value most in Palisade, perseverance and willingness to learn. We are proud to recognize his accomplishments and excited to see what lies ahead!
