What time is it? I think it’s time for the 2025 girls spring soccer season! The girls soccer season began on Thursday, January 27th 2025. Tryouts for this year’s girls soccer season was held at Long Family National Park at 4:00-6:00 PM on Monday, February 24th, Tuesday, February 25th, and Wednesday, February 26th. They announced the players who made the team on Thursday, February 27th which included what team the players made. They handed out all the soccer gear for this year’s season which included jerseys, sweat pants, practice shorts, practice shirts, a wind breaker, and a soccer backpack that all represent Palisade high school.
Brenae Snover is a senior at Palisade High School who has been playing on the Varsity Palisade soccer team since her freshman year of high school. This is her last year playing for Palisade but it won’t be her last time playing soccer! She is committed to playing soccer in college for ACU in Arizona . Snover has been playing since she was 3 years old but started playing goalie in middle school. She played for two different club teams from 5th grade up to her 11th grade. After asking Snover what encouraged her and pushed her so hard to play soccer, her response was “ My mom played a lot of soccer when she was younger so she was a big influence on me. To be able to want to work hard for it was easier, getting encouragement from my family pushed me to want it more.” Having family as an inspiration is inspiring and is the best way to achieve a goal. With the help of loved ones, family, and friends it’s always such an easier journey when striving to achieve that goal.
“I would tell any younger future athletes who are wanting to reach the same goal as me to just keep up the good work and don’t bring yourself down, you’re gonna make mistakes that’s just how it goes and to be able to get at a higher level you have to be able to learn from those mistakes because it won’t get any easier.” Said Snover. She is very sad to be leaving the team, as it was like her second family and we are sad to see her leave but wish her the best of luck along with the rest of our seniors!
Ali Schmalz is the JV coach for this year’s season. It is her first year coaching for Palisade High School and she is very excited to be starting in the season with us. We are very excited to have her and she is thrilled to be a part of the team. She teaches at Palisade as a world studies teacher, college career prep and AP human geography. Schmalz is a very young, athletic, and talented woman who is taking on new challenges everyday and does so much for Palisade. “ One of my highlights about coaching is getting to see a kid making it work and helping them learn and when they do to see it click inside of them and see them grow and get better. It can be hard sometimes but overall it is all good. I love seeing the team develop over the season and I am very excited about this season.” Said Schmalz.
The first game for these girls will be on Thursday, March 6th. Make sure to cheer on our Bulldogs and wish them the best of luck for the 2025 season!
