Swish, swish, boom! Last Friday, January 31, the Lady Bulldogs took down the Central Warriors in an exciting home game, with a final score of 53-39. The Bulldogs now have a record of 10-7. This win wasn’t a new occurrence for Palisade; the Lady Bulldogs have made themselves known throughout the Grand Valley with exhilarating wins against the Grand Junction Tigers (39-30), the Grand Valley Cardinals (60-12), and the Rifle Bears (60-16).
The first quarter opened with a lead from the Warriors, but the Bulldogs quickly bounced back with Palisade scoring nineteen points in the second quarter. Junior Lyla Lancaster reflected on her highlights of the game, which were her two three-pointers. She mentioned her teammate, senior Delaney Wright, who scored sixteen points during the game. Lancaster spoke upon the beginning of the game. “We started off kind of slow… but I think once we got into the groove, and our defense started working together then it was a pretty good game.” Lancaster has been playing on Varsity since she was a Freshman. “I think it was pretty good,” Lancaster commented on the team dynamic in retrospect of the game. “The team’s been working pretty well together.”
The Bulldogs have been working together this season, with both new and old members on the varsity team. Imari Bosshardt, a Freshman, has been proving herself on the team. During the Central game Bosshardt scored seven points and had a steal, playing for about half of the game. As a new member, she commented on Central’s team, being her first game against Central. “We know a lot of people on the team, and it’s easy to play with. They’re a fun team to play.”
This upbeat win and exciting game surely won’t be the last of the 2024-2025 season. While the weather is still chilly, be sure to catch the Lady Bulldogs on fire!
