Palisade is home to students of many skills, one of which is academics. The Palisade Paw Post, the school’s newspaper, is introducing something new to the students of Palisade High School. We are all familiar with Athlete of the Week in which we congratulate two athletes, one girl and one boy who are doing well in athletics. We are now introducing what’s called, Student of the Week.
Student of the Week goes to students who are generally good at academics or show admirable motivation, positive attitude towards others, or they portray signs of improvement in their grades. Mr. Hawkins, part of the administration at Palisade High School says, “ This could be anything from a kiddo that’s doing excellent in class, getting really good grades, or a student who has shown great improvement. Maybe a student is in a lower grade like a D, but they’re working their tail off to get higher than that. It’s something along those lines.” As of now, we aren’t so sure of what the standards are for being nominated for Student of the Week. Here’s what Hawkins has to say about that, “I think our teachers should be nominating kids that feel like they deserve that title of Student of the Week.”
The reward that will be given out to the students who earn Student of the Week is a special from Jersey Mike’s Subs where the student gets a free regular sub of their choice.
Student of the Week nominations are going to take place next week January 27th in which we’ll be announcing our first two students who have earned this award. So stay tuned and hope all of you have an amazing weekend.
