Last Thursday, the 18th, our baseball team faced the Battle Mountain Huskies in a double header for their fifth league game of the season. They took both games with a win run ruling the Huskies in both. The first game was a shutout, they won 14-0, and the second game they won 13-1. “Both games went pretty well, we played well and we hit the ball good. We had guys working throughout the week on their approach since we knew they were going to throw a lefty against us,” says Sophomore Dylon Larson. In the first game, Senior Kayden Dowdy hit 1.000, Junior Easton Embrey hit 0.667, and many players hit 0.500 including Larson, Bladimir Valdivia, Will Seriani, Caleb Blanck, and Hunter Howard. Blanck and Howard both had two RBIs, and Seriani had one double. Junior Garrett Draper pitched this game, collecting three strikeouts. He faced 18 batters, and threw 51 pitches. In the first inning, the boys outscored them 1-0, then in the third inning they took off outscoring them 11-0, and finished it off in the 5th inning outscoring them 2-0. The boys had 11 hits, and no errors. In the second game, Soren Ashcraft and Wyatt Fleming both hit 1.000. Embrey hit 0.750, Howard and Titus Porter both hit 0.667. Embrey had three RBI’s, and Howard had two. Ashcraft, Larson, and Howard all had one stolen base. Embrey pitched this game, striking out nine batters and only allowing one run. He faced 22 batters and threw 72 pitches. “We’re doing pretty good, we just got a couple wins, and are going for the next,” says Sophomore Kian Kinslow. The boys now hold a 12-4-1 record and are 9-0 in league. Good luck the rest of the season!!
