The Phil Wertman invitational meet

We got another couple of track and field meets completed for the 2024 season. Last Friday the Palisades track team went to the Phil Wertman invitational meet. Many of the Bulldogs were the top dogs in the meet in various specific events. The girls 4×200 meter relay Mackenzie Gray, Elizabeth Fleming, Gracie Ehart and Malaya Wright took the trophy home by dusting everyone in their tracks with their time being 1.51.80 taking home the first place medal. In the girls 100 meter hurdles Sophomore Rylin Elsrod achieved 3rd place in her heat running 18.03. The boys are also putting on a show with Keden Everett and Hyrum Deford, known as Hank the Tank, with personal records on back to back events. Junior Everett ran a 11.62 setting himself up for the fastest 100 meter dash on the team so far. He was 6th overall in the 100 meter dash. Sophomore Deford ran a 4.51.05 mile which he was 6th overall in his event.

Palisade had a back to back meet which happened last saturday. The Girls started strong again by getting first place in their 800 meter medley race. Not only that, the girls were also on the map for the 100 meter dash with Sophomore Mackenzie Gray making it to the finals and getting 5th place running a 13.76. The highlight race for the boys was the 200 meter dash with Keden Everett and Kaleb Reed. Juniors Reed and Everett both made it to the finals and were neck and neck in the race. Everett ran a 23.30 and Reed ran a 23.40. Everett took 3rd and Reed took 4th in the 200 meter dash. We were able to interview the athletes on the track team to get their views on the meet. “Everyone is getting super focused and they are just getting better and better every meet” said Mackenzie Gray. “Being injured sucks but I get to watch a lot of people get super excited by beating their own personal records. My favorite is my sister. I am so proud of how far she has come” said Madison Gray. Another couple meets in the books. Now this Friday the Dogs are going to the Wild West Invitational so we wish them luck in all of their events. Go Bulldogs!
