Tryouts are finally over and practices are just beginning. Wrestling shirts and shorts have been given to the team to wear to practices and duels. Wrestling has been at Palisade for many years and we have had multiple students go to state. For example last year alone we had a student Keyton Young who placed top 3 in the state championships. The coaches for the wrestling team will always be there for their wrestlers. They want only the best and if a coach knows that someone can do more they will be one hundred percent honest and work with that kid to help them succeed.
This year Palisades wrestling season will start with the first meet being at Cederige on December 1 at 6 PM. Each week palisade will have at least one game either hosted by Palisade or by another school. We will have its final matches on February 17 in Denver at the Ball Arena. I asked Trevin Brannon a senior who has been wrestling for five years what he thought about wrestling at Palisade and he said “Wrestling at Palisade has been great and live made a lot of friends. I started wrestling in my eighth-grade year and have only been improving since then. Going to wrestling camps and just going out with the team has been one of the best and most memorable experiences in high school. One thing I have noticed is that there are a lot of new freshmen who have a lot of talent and made the varsity team.”
