Palisades annual homecoming parade is another beloved homecoming tradition and was a huge success this year. Although more quaint than previous years, the spirit and hype energy was still present and Bulldog spirit filled the streets. On the hot Friday morning, all the preparations were made as all the classes and clubs assembled their floats. Some of the floats included football, volleyball, softball, and golf as well as FBLA and our very own newspaper float. Each class also had a float. All the floats were accompanied by our incredible marching band and cheer team.
I spoke to Brielle Sorenson a Palisade Junior in student council who helped put together the parade. “The parade was really fun, I think we did really good as a parade committee in stuco and the parade overall,” says Sorenson. “I loved helping decorate the Juniors float and I think we did amazing this year,”. Every year there is a competition between the classes in student council for the best float, the floats this year aligned with the homecoming theme the seasons. The seniors float was summer, the juniors was spring, the sophomores was fall, and the freshmen were winter. The seniors won and the juniors got second. Controversially the freshman got third and the sophomores placed fourth. Lots of effort were put into all of the floats and all of them were amazing, the seniors had a well deserved win. “Setup went pretty smoothly, there were some bumps but it turned out great,” says Sorenson. This year the parade committee was lead by Ava Pearson. Attendance was great with students and parents filling the sidewalks watching the parade. Congratulations to the senior class on their win, and good job to everyone else who participated. We’ll see you next time and the 2024-2025 homecoming parade.
