Bigger, louder, faster. These are some of the things many of our new Freshmen have pointed out about Palisade High School. Transitioning can be difficult, as many of us learned at some point, so I wanted to talk to some of the class of 2027 and see how they were feeling after the first few days of High School.
I gave Freshmen a chance to tell me their favorite, least favorite, and biggest changes about High School. Eli Bency told me, “[School] has been good, classes are a lot better than Middle School.” When I asked Gracie Cooper about the past few days she told me, “it’s been pretty good, I’ve gotten used to the school already so it’s easy to adapt.” Both of the students seemed to be adapting well, and we’re hoping their classmates have been feeling the same. I then asked them all if there is anything daunting about coming into Highschool. Eli told me, “I still don’t know every class yet, like teachers or the halls yet.” Gracie told me, “The classes are all scattered out, like in middle school all the classes were in one hallway.” Diego Soto summed up how most students seemed to be feeling with, “it’s very big.” Finally to wrap up my interviews I wanted to ask the Freshmen what they had enjoyed so far, where Eli told me, “I have a lot of classes with friends.” Which is always nice when coming into an unfamiliar place. Diego said his favorite part was, “Weights, so that I can get big.” And finally, Gracie told me, “Having more freedom, like for lunch and stuff instead of having to sit in a cafeteria you get to go outside.”
No doubt changing an environment like that can be difficult, but we can all help by being welcoming to our new underclassmen and making sure they find their way here, just as we all did.

Hi I'm Keegan. I am a Senior, and am the other Editor in Chief for the Paw Post. I'm very excited to continue working on the Paw Post and making sure it can be the best it can be! In my free time I love being outdoors and playing sports like skiing, basketball and soccer. I'm also on the cross country and track team at Palisade, as well as the speech and debate team. My favorite part of newspaper is being able to get out and talk to so many people and see diverse views on a range of interesting topics.
