Palisade Cross Country competed at the Liberty Bell meet this weekend in Denver. They raced against nearly 100 teams from all over Colorado and encompassing states. With almost everyone on the team hitting their personal records, it was an incredibly successful meet.

It was a cold rainy morning in Denver when the team arrived at the course. They had an hour to warm up before running in the first heat. There were 6 Varsity boys that started the race off. The gun shot off and the race was afoot. Over 50 packed together athletes all bolted down the wet streets of the Denver suburbs. Only 3 minutes after the Girls Varsity was started. A lot of the course was downhill which led to all of our runners getting a big distance with long strides.

Soon enough runners came around the corner to the last 300 meters of gnarly uphill to the finish. Zenon Reece gave a huge effort on the last haul and came in 8th with a time of 16:53, an insanely impressive time. Quintin Motter came in with a 19:04 followed shortly after by Keegan Seymour (19:58), Dawson David (20:55), Brady Russell(22:06), and Will Neese(23:01). Th girls team began pouring in shortly after with Freshmen, Aspen Johnson in front of the Palisade pack and a time of 21:54. She was followed by the other freshmen, Amy Talbott(23:01). The rest of the girls came in shortly after, Jessica Mosby(23:06), Sophia Dery(23:54), Abby Price(25:14), Kenzie Rewold(24:56) Ema Babnic(25:59). Brielle Sorenson and Mikaya Savoni ran JV for the Palisade team and competed hard.

The entire team came away with huge PR’s and left Denver extremely tired but overjoyed. They head to Glenwood this week looking for even bigger PR’s on a great course!
