On Tuesday, March 31st,the Palisades boys Varsity baseball team matched up in a double header against the Coal Ridge Titans. The Bulldogs swept the Titans with two back to back wins and showed a solid performance during both games. During the first game against Coal Ridge the Bulldogs were able to win 12-2, asserting their dominance over the Titans, Following up, during the second game, the Bulldogs sent Coal Ridge home with two losses, beating them 11-1. Varsity pitcher Jacob Porras explains that double headers can be tough since you must maintain focus and high energy throughout both games. Palisade baseball coaches have done a great job preparing their players for anything and it shows in the way they play. Palisade Bulldogs since the start of their season have been pulling away with back to back wins earning them a strong overall record of 11-1. Despite the mistakes that cost them wins during past games, the Bulldogs have been unstoppable, and it all ties back to the hard work of the coaches and players.
Palisade’s baseball program is a perfect example of Palisade Bulldog sports as a whole, representing hard work on the field, dedication to the classroom, and great sportsmanship regardless of the score at the end of the game. Porras explains the community the Palisade Varsity team has developed. “We try to help each other maintain good grades, and have good attendance” shares Porras. This is crucial since Palisade athletes are considered students before athletes. Showing up to school, and keeping good grades can be difficult. Although, with the right community developed on the field, you can find success both on and off the field. Porras concludes “We’re all really close and know each other well.”
