As we begin the spring sports season, the girls lacrosse team faced significant challenges. Despite five consecutive losses, the team demonstrated persistence and secured its first victory on March 28, 2026, achieving a 13-9 win with a 4-point lead.
Building on this victory, senior Natalia Arnold reflected on the team’s challenges and progress. She stated, “The team has improved drastically from the beginning to now, with meshing together and settling as a whole team. Especially after we lost so many seniors last year and some who have never played together before. It’s been a lot of hard work to figure out those new roles for everyone, both on and off the field.” As a member since her freshman year, Arnold has witnessed significant changes in team dynamics and noted that juniors are preparing to assume leadership roles next season. She also emphasized the strong bond among teammates this year, both during and outside of practice, explaining, “I feel like there is a lot of support in our team. I think that this stems from all the rides upperclassmen give to underclassmen that promote a more supportive environment holistically.” Arnold believes that this close-knit environment helps the team address issues that arise during games.
Continuing her reflection, Arnold addressed personal challenges faced this season. She shared, “I had quite a few goals set for myself coming into this season, some being statistic-based and others being more focused on myself as a teammate. I think the biggest one was not putting too much pressure on myself and my teammates, which impairs our dynamic and gameplay. As a senior, I have slipped up a few times with being harsh on myself.” She acknowledged the harsh realities of lacrosse and how tough she is on herself, but described overcoming those struggles, concluding, “Though I did have some personal struggles, I think overall this was my best season in regards to not letting it become too much of a mental exhaustion and then making that an external pressure on my peers to feel the same way.” Though the season may have started rough, the Girls Lacrosse team has many more games to go and will continue to strive for success to reach their end goal.
