On Friday March 6th, The Bride comes back to life and into theaters. The Bride is a horror romance film directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal that follows Frankenstein’s Monster played by Oscar winning actor, Christian Bale, as he travels to 1930’s Chicago to bring a murdered woman played by best actress award winner, Jessie Buckley, back to life as a companion for Frankenstein’s Monster.
Maddox Rewold, a junior at Palisade Highschool, had to describe The Bride as “scary and exciting.” While Kailey Riskey, another junior, had to say it looks a little too brutal. While both Rewold and Riskey described it as scary, they are still both excited about the cast. When Rewold was told Christian Bale was playing Frankenstein’s monster, she responded, “I really like him playing Frankenstein because he is a great actor and just phenomenal.” Riskey agreed and said, “I quite like Christian Bale. But I don’t know how he’ll do as Frankenstein.” This rendition takes place in 1930s America instead of the usual early 1800s Europe. When Rewold and Riskey were told, Rewold stated, “I don’t really like that. I feel like it’s ruining the culture and causing a misconception of the origin of the story.” While Riskey said, “It ruins the vibe because it’s not even in the same place.” When asked how they think the love story between the bride and Frankenstein would end Riskey responded, “I think history will repeat itself and the bride will leave Frankenstein. Maybe they will both just permanently die.” and Rewold says, “I really feel like it’s the origin and it will repeat itself. I feel like she is going to love bomb him and going to leave him.” If you’re looking for a movie to check out this weekend make sure to check out The Bride.
