As winter sports come to an end and the leaves start to regrow, not only do the seasons change but also the activities. Spring sports are just starting including boys baseball, track, girls soccer, girls tennis, and both girls and boys lacrosse. Spring officially starts on March first with spring student athletes already diving into their sports, from fighting for a place at tryouts to trying out a new sport just for the fun of it, sports is a big part of being involved into the Palisade High School community. But before we focus on any of what’s new, we need to remember to recognize all of the hard working Student Athletes that went to state in their winter sports and activities. On Friday February 27th, the school hosted an assembly to do just that. Including State
qualifiers and places in sports like wrestling, swimming, and even some talented artists that included Sara Babnic and Gavin Burke. As well as the boys and girls basketball teams that are now in the Playoffs, boys Varsity first in State at the moment. The swimmers getting top three at State being Emily Hardin, and Ashley Burke. The State qualifiers for Wrestling included seniors Tobyn Trottier, Teegan Young, Eli Bency, freshman Logan Holland, juniors Jacob Snodgrass, and Kadin Mulford. Khloe Walton, a freshman who attended the assembly in support of all of the winter athletes, being a winter sport athlete as well this year being her first on the girls basketball team stated, “I think it did a good job recognizing everyone and I think everyone cheered for the athletes and got very excited. I also think it showed students what can be achieved and encouraged more to try out for winter sports and sports in general.”
The assembly on Friday was to appreciate and congratulate the State qualifiers. The whole school went and crowded the gym to appreciate all these hard working athletes that have committed to their chosen sport and living up to the school’s reputation of great athletes and students in general.
