Last week the lady Bulldogs took the court and played their lives off against Central, our heated but friendly rival. The final score was 62-22 the Bulldogs taking the win. It was the break out of the streak, taking the win, the girls worked hard. The game was full of movement, both teams getting a good amount of time with the ball, “It was exciting and high pace,” says a Sophomore player, Tabbitha Barrera who has been playing basketball since sixth grade.
Central has been Palisade’s friendly competition for years, it will go down in history, Barrera also mentioned, “It was good to beat a team that Palisade is rivals with.” It is all friendly of course, just some friendly competition between schools. The game was full of the ball being frantically passed between teams, not one team getting a hold of it and keeping it for the whole game. Palisade held strong the whole game keeping their score above Central within each quarter, starting off strong gaining 18 points in the first quarter, then 30 in the second quarter, 5 in the third quarter and then finishing off strong gaining 11 points in the last quarter.
To touch on the stats of the girls Varsity Basketball team, there were a total of ten girls playing the night of that game, with their team scoring average to be about 46.8 by the end of the game. Basketball is a team effort, the team of girls worked together to get that average. Barrera also mentions that the upperclassman and the varsity girls are “chill and fun to watch, that’s why I chose to go.” She was not playing that night.
Seeing the girls play is a work of art, the next game is Saturday, February 28th against Central do not miss it!
